Wensleydale
Following on from the £23 million acquisition of Wensleydale from dairy giants Saputo, this allowed them to be able to increase standards across both Kirkby and Hawes sites, this cash injection allows the business to continue to fund its 40 local farms whilst adding improvements across the board.
The problem Wensleydale were facing was due to the location of both sites it was difficult to find the right candidates that had the right expertise, qualifications and were willing to stay away for long periods of time.
Solution
Circle Select have since placed multiple Multi Skilled shift engineers across both the Kirkby and Hawes site who have many years of food experience and holding the correct qualifications and certificates and were more than happy to stay away during their contracts. The engineers that have been placed at both sites have been placed across different shift patterns, holiday cover and have also been subject to multiple successful trial starts. The Engineers have also had their contracts extended which is a product of the good work they have done during their time with Wensleydale.
Metrics
Time to hire- From when the job was given to hire the engineers the entire process took 5 days which involved an interview stage with the hiring manager. This involved the hire of only 1 engineer but when an opportunity came up for another engineer during this process a trial start was suggested so 2 engineers were placed during this process with the initial need only being for 1.
Number of people placed
Circle Select have placed 8 Engineers across both Wensleydale sites, where most have been offered extensions of their contracts as a reward for their good work. We have most recently placed 2 of these engineers on the Hawes site on trial starts where there would be no notice period inside the first week and both were highly successful.
